Suffering from Indigestion?

I is for Indigestion

Indigestion covers a variety of symptoms that vary from cramping in the stomach to heartburn, wind, belching and pain. It is linked to a lack of stomach acid and a lack of digestive enzymes so the body has a hard time dealing with and breaking down food. The problem can be made worse by overeating, eating too quickly, alcohol, poor food combinations, stress and not chewing properly.

3 tips:

·         Don’t take antacids! This is neutralizing exactly what you need to digest a meal. Try chewing ginger or drinking ginger tea 30 minutes before a meal to stimulate digestion. Pineapple or Papaya before a meal can also aid digestion.

·         Avoid rich foods that are hard on digestion for a while, red meat, chocolate, sugary desserts, cheese etc. These exacerbate the problem so reduce these foods for a few weeks and see your indigestion improve.

·         Aloe Vera is a good digestive tract healer, take 3-6 tablespoons before meals to reduce indigestion and heal the gastrointestinal lining.
